Beclate Rotacaps contains 200 mcg of Beclomethasone dipropionate in its formulation. It is a synthetic glucocorticoid. This synthetic glucocorticoid is similar to natural glucocorticoid produced by the adrenal glands. This Glucocorticoid has potent anti inflammatory activity. When this medicament is administered, the medicament goes directly to the site of action. These rotacaps are administered with the help of Rotahaler or Revolizer. Rotacaps helps the patient to administer the drug through the mouth to the Respiratory tract. The Drug reaches at the site of action and produces its effect. This medicine is advised as a prophylaxis in case of severe Asthma. In children, asthma is well controlled by these medicines and does not affect the pace of their growth. It widens up the airways and avoids the constriction of the airways.

Mechanism of Action

Beclomethasone dipropionate possesses an anti-inflammatory activity. This medicament is a synthetic glucocorticoid. It shows its action by inhibiting the inflammatory process by preventing the leukocyte infiltration at the site of inflammation, changing the function of inflammation mediators, suppresses humoral immune responses. Beclate Rotacap also inhibits the release of fewer chemicals, which are involved in the inflammatory process. These chemicals are known as inflammatory mediators, such as; Histamine, eicosanoids, and leukocytes.


Beclate Rotacap is indicated for the patients with chronic asthma and prophylaxis of severe asthma.

Dosage and Administration

The dose of Beclate Rotacap varies from one individual to another, because it is influenced by various factors; Age of the patient, Body weight of the patient, basic metabolic rate, severity of disease, how to respond to the medicine. This medicament only used to manage the symptoms. The prescribed dose is 1 - 2 inhalations two times a day, either in the morning or in the evening. Mode of Administration

Before taking this medicine, follow these parameters;

  2. Fix the mouthpiece with the Rotahaler or with the Revolizer.

  3. Priming is done, until it produces the fine mist.

  4. Put the mouthpiece of Beclate Rotahaler into your mouth and then breathe in your medicament slowly and deeply.

  5. Hold your breath for 10 seconds.

  6. Dispose of the used Rotacap and then clean your Rotahaler with water.

Side effects

The most commonly reported side effects are Skin Bruising or dermal thinning, Painful breathing, difficulty in swallowing, excessive thirst, Severe headache, mild coughing, infection in the mouth, inflammation of back of throat, rashes or itching, sneezing, sore throat, swelling of facial region, throat, or tongue, unable to speak properly, wheezing, white patches and wounds that heal slowly.

Drug interactions

The medicines which are known to interact with Beclate Rotahaler are; Azathioprine, Mycophenolate, Cyclosporine, Methotrexate, Leflunomide, Cyclophosphamide, Chlorambucil, Nitrogen mustard, Diazoxide, Ketoconazole, Fluconazole, Itraconazole, Mifepristone, Phenytoin, Phenobarbital, Methylphenobarbital, Misoprostol, Isoniazid, Rifampin, Ethambutol and Pyrazinamide.


  1. Beclate Rotacaps are contraindicated in individual who are allergic to Beclomethasone Dipropionate or any other ingredient of the product.

  2. It is also inadvisable to the individual with status asthmaticus.

  3. This medicament is not prescribed to treat the acute attacks of Asthma.

  4. Patients who are suffering from tuberculosis are contraindicated to this medicine.

  5. Had surgery in the past.

  6. In case of Throat or Lung infection, do not take this medicine.


While taking this medicine, you must visit to the Doctor and discuss your medical history. Do not use this medicine, if you have following Medical condition;

  1. Status Asthmaticus.

  2. Pregnant or breast feeding mothers.

  3. After the intake of Beclate Rotahaler, Wash out your mouth with water. So that the concentration of Beclomethasone in your mouth gets lowered. This will minimize the risk of candidiasis and hoarseness of the throat and mouth.

  4. Do not use Beclate Rotahaler more than the prescribed dose; it will affect your bones.

  5. Avoid its contact with eyes.


It should be stored at the temperature below 30°C. Do not freeze this medicament. Do not expose it to the moisture, heat and light. Keep this medicine away from the reach of children and Domestic pets.

Missed dose 

When you have missed a dose of Beclate Rotacaps, take it as earlier as you recall. If it is nearer to the time of the next dose, don’t take the missed dose and resume the usual dosing schedule. Need not to take more dose than the prescribed dose.


The overdosing of Beclate Rotacap is very harmful, make a call to the poison control centre or emergency room quickly.
